About Us

The sweet spot.  That’s what we aim for in our life together.  You’ve probably been to churches that are too demanding or not demanding enough; too formal or not formal enough; too rigid or not rigid enough; too faddish or too musty; too traditional or too non-traditional.  Our church seeks the sweet spot between extremes.

FPC Wayne is truly an ecumenical family of faith, made up of believers who come from a wide variety of backgrounds–churched, unchurched, and places in between.  But we are all wonderfully united in Christ.  We were the first congregation to gather for worship in the settlement that was to become Wayne, Nebraska, all the way back in 1881.  And we’ve been going strong ever since.  Here’s what makes us tick:

Mission*

Our chief end is to glorify and enjoy God forever.

Vision**

Empowered by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live out Christ’s Great Commandment (to love God and our neighbors) and Christ’s Great Commission (to make disciples, baptize, and teach).

Goals

As the body of Christ, we strive to:

  • Worship and love the Lord our God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength; (Worship)
  • Exalt Jesus Christ as the only Lord and Savior for humankind;(Worship, Evangelism)
  • Strengthen relationships among the members of the covenant family, sharing in one another’s joys and sorrows; (Fellowship)
  • Build and equip disciples of Jesus Christ who will serve him gladly; (Discipleship)
  • Reach out in mission to our community, caring for the poor and needy; (Mission)
  • Become effective witnesses for Jesus Christ in our community, sharing the good news of the gospel to those who need it most; (Evangelism)
  • Practice good stewardship of that which God has entrusted to our care; (Stewardship)
  • Fulfill Jesus’ commandment to love one another by caring for each other; (Ministry)
